Fifty members of the Criminal Assets Bureau, supported by the Emergency Response Unit and the Regional Support Unit from the Garda Western Region, carried out a coordinated series of searches on an organised crime gang involved in the sale and supply of drugs.
Property seized included six cars; one x 191 registered Ford Focus; two x 181 registered Ford Focus; one x 181 registered Ford Ranger; two x 161 registered Ford Focus and a ‘TuffMac’ general duty car trailer; all with an estimated combined value of some €120,000.
More than 100 Garda members were involved in some 21 searches across counties Tipperary, Longford, Offaly, Laois, Westmeath, Cavan, Roscommon and Dublin. We understand that these searches were focused on 5 residential addresses; 16 business premises, mainly car dealerships and one midland Solicitor’s office.
Cocaine valued at €25,000 was also seized and freezing orders were placed on six bank accounts which contained approximately €50,000.
Also seized were drug paraphernalia, computers, mobile phones, financial documents, fake €20 bank notes, 3 Rolex watches and a quantity of lady’s designer handbags.
A male in his 20’s has been arrested by local Gardaí under the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud) Offences Act, 2001
