What has been described as a ‘sophisticated cannabis grow house’ has been discovered by Gardaí, some 32.4 km (20 miles); just a 32 minute drive from Thurles, Co. Tipperary, via the R690.
The grow house was located at a house close to the village of Mullinahone, Thurles, on late Monday evening last, resulting in the seizure of 60 suspected cannabis plants, latter with an estimated value of €48,000 and cannabis herb, same worth approximately €4000. Total estimated value of the seizure some €52,000.
Two males, understood to be aged in their 40’s, from Co. Kilkenny and Co. Tipperary respectively, were arrested at the scene by the Kilkenny/Carlow Divisional Drug Unit, latter having executed a search warrant.
The two men arrested at the scene were brought to Kilkenny Garda Station; both detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. They have since been charged and are expected to appear before the courts within the next 14 days, on a date yet to be finalised.
The drug haul will now be forwarded for full analysis.
