Three men, understood to be aged between 17 and 27 years, were arrested on Friday afternoon last, under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and are being questioned at three different Garda stations.
The arrests follow a major operation undertaken which involved Gardaí from Co. Limerick and Co. Tipperary.
Some 20 Gardai were involved in the searches of houses and property in the areas of Cappawhite, Bruff and Cappamore; seizing cannabis valued at around €10,000 together with numerous identified stolen goods, including power tools.
The three arrests were made as part of a joint operation involving ‘Operation Thor’; set up in 2015 to actively target organised crime gangs and repeat offenders, through co-ordinated crime prevention and enforcement activity to protect rural communities.
Those arrested are understood to include two individuals from the area of Cappawhite, Co. Tipperary and one from the locality of Bruff, Co. Limerick.
Good on the Gardaí, but there is NO REAL PUNISHMENT.
