A local Thurles man, aged 27, has appeared in court today; charged with the multiple stabbing of another male in his early 20’s; just outside Thurles Town centre, between 9.30pm and 9.45pm on last Saturday night. The accused attacker was arrested by Thurles Gardaí on Sunday morning and subsequently charged with assault, causing bodily harm.
The arrested man has been named as Mr Stephen Quinlan, with an address at Seskin, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. He was brought before Tipperary Town District Court today charged with several alleged offences including:- ‘Assault causing harm,’ ‘Criminal damage,’ ‘Possession of stolen property’ and Possession of drugs.
The youth who received several stab wounds in Saturday night’s incident, is understood to be in his early 20’s. He was rushed to hospital where he was treated for his injuries, before being later released.
Following objection by Thurles Gardaí to Mr Quinlan bail, the accused was remanded in custody to Limerick Prison until next Friday, when he will again be taken before Nenagh District Court to answer the charges.
