It is with deepest sympathy we report that a woman has died following a car crash near Two-Mile-Borris here in Co Tipperary.
The elderly woman, also the driver of the vehicle, died when her car struck a fence, at about 2.00pm this afternoon, between Two-Mile-Borris and the turn off for the M8 at Thurles.
A passenger also in the car was injured, though her injuries are thought not to be life threatening. Both occupiers of the vehicle have been identified as currently resident in Thurles, however names are being withheld at this time until relatives have been properly contacted.
The body of the deceased woman has been removed from the scene and taken to University Hospital Limerick and Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact Thurles Garda Station on Tel: 0504-25100, or the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800-666-111 or report to any garda station.
Today’s fatality brings to five the number of people who have died on Tipperary’s roads so far since January 1st 2014.
