It is with deepest regret that we learn of the death, this morning, of a young 19 year old man, who has lost his life following yet another road traffic accident on Tipperary roads.
The accident happened here in Co Tipperary this morning on the Fethard/Killenaule road, on the Fethard side of Coolmore shortly before 9.00 o’clock. It is understood that the car which the man was driving struck a fallen tree.
No other vehicle is believed to have been involved in the crash and the man, who is understood to be from the area, was the only occupant of the car. The victims body has now been removed to Waterford General Hospital where a post mortem examination will be carried out.
This is now the fourth fatality on Tipperary’s roads since the start of 2014.
Emergency services remain at the scene and the road is not expected to open until this afternoon.
Meanwhile Met Éireann, via an Orange Alert, are warning road users of more severe flooding, high winds and heavy rains for today.
