The N74 Tipperary to Cashel road continues to remain closed this evening at Thomastown, due to yet another fatal vehicle collision.
A man believed to be in his late 60’s has regrettably died as a direct result this evening. The as yet unnamed male driver of the car, who was also the sole occupant, was fatally injured when his vehicle was in a collision with a tractor on the N74 at Thomastown, at approximately 5:00pm this evening.
The man was pronounced dead at the accident scene and his body was removed to South Tipperary General Hospital, Clonmel, in Tipperary. The driver of the tractor thankfully was uninjured in the crash.
This stretch of road is currently closed for Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions have been put in place.
Gardaí in Tipperary Town are now investigating the accident and are appealing for witnesses to contact Tipperary Garda Station on Tel: 062 -80670, or the Garda Confidential Telephone Line Tel: 1800 666 111 or indeed any Garda Station.
