North Tipperary County Council have made an Order for the temporary closing of roads /streets, within the precincts of Thurles town, over the coming days and weeks. (Under the 1993 – 2007 Roads Act, (Section 75 of The Roads Act 1993) Roads Regulations 1994.)
Thurles Roads / Streets Affected
(1) Temporary Closing of Mathew Avenue/Castle Avenue from its junction with the R498 Parnell Street to its junction with R660 Friar Street/The Colmyard road, (Holycross Road).
Estimated Period of Closure: The above road closure will be in place from 6:00am on Monday 6th January 2014 to 6:00pm on Friday 14th February 2014.
(2) Fianna Road from its junction with N62 Slievenamon Road to its junction with Croke Street.
Estimated Period of Closure: The above road closure will be in place from 6:00am on Monday 6th January 2014 to Friday 14th February 2014.
(3) N62 Slievenamon Road from its junction with the N75 Liberty Square to its junction with R659 Fianna Road and R659 Thomond Road/Emmet Street.
Estimated Period of Closure: The above road closure will be in place from 6:00am on Monday 20th January 2014 to 6:00pm on Friday 28th February 2014.
Readers transporting students daily from west and south of the town should take special note and perhaps familiarise themselves with the possible alternative routes to their varied destinations. Detour signs however are expected to be in place.
The purpose of these road closures is to facilitate the long overdue works associated with the Water-main Rehabilitation Works (Contract No.2) in the Thurles Town area and any inconvenience caused should be seen as both essential and regrettable.
