Cattle Rustlers On The Prowl In Tipperary

A part-time farmer based in Tipperary is offering a substantial reward for information leading to the return of 15 cows, taken by cattle rustlers from his farm at Newport, Co Tipperary, over a month ago.

The farmer, Denis Corrigan, said that the ‘Cowboys,’ arrived in a lorry to his farm at about 7.20pm on January 26th last. They spent several hours loading two heifers and 13 in-calf cows, before leaving his property at 2.20am later that night, delayed due to their vehicle getting stuck on the property.

All animals were in-calf except for the two heifers and all were cross-bred Limousins or Belgium Blues, including one pure bred Limousin and have a replacement value of €30,000.

In similar robberies in the nearby Castleconnell area of Co Limerick, over the last 12 months, there have been 12 other cattle taken in separate incidents.
