Thurles Gardaí are appealing for witnesses of a serious altercation which took place in Thurles last night, to come forward.
Gardaí are investigating a serious assault that occurred around 1.30am this morning at Liberty Square, in the town.
The victim, who is understood to be a 25-year-old male, from the Johnstown area of Co. Kilkenny, was removed to South Tipperary General Hospital, Clonmel, where he remains in a critical condition.
A male, aged 22, from the Templemore area, has been arrested in relation to this incident and is currently being detained under Section 4 of Criminal Justice Act, here at Thurles Garda Station.
