It is widely rumoured this morning that Sunderland AFC are preparing a £7m bid for 24 year old Tipperary born striker Shane Long.
But can the Irish striker be attracted to the 49,000 capacity all-seater Stadium of Light?
Sunderland officially nicknamed, The Black Cats, sponsored by Tombola, are expected to face stiff competition from other clubs such as Everton, Wolves, and Newcastle, however their ability to increase his wages to £40,000 a week could be the deciding factor.
Sunderland plan to make the Tipperary striker their first-choice, following Darren Bent’s exit in January 2011 to Aston Villa, after a successful 18 months with The Black Cats.
Shane who was reared to the sports of Tipperary GAA, hurling and football, wearing his native Gortnahoe-Glengoole G.A.A. colours in both hurling and Gaelic football and playing youth soccer with St. Kevin’s schoolboy’s club in Two-Mile-Borris for over five seasons, has now marked himself as “one piece of very hot property.”
