The wedding took place yesterday of the very lovely Miss Fiona Murphy, daughter of Mrs Bridget and Mr Michael Murphy, Iona Avenue, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, to Mr Thomas Fogarty, son of Mrs Patrica and Mr Jim Fogarty, Golden, Co. Tipperary.
The wedding ceremony took place in the magnificent Cathedral of The Assumption here in Thurles, with the ceremonies chief celebrant Rev. Fr. Joe Egan, ably assisted by Rev. Fr. Jimmy Donnelly.
Escorted down the aisle by her father Michael, the bride looked breathtaking in a white embroidered brushed silk afternoon gown, with sequined bodice. Equally beautiful were her bridesmaids, Ciara Murphy, Majella Croke and Megan O’Dowd who wore full-length ‘Turkish Blue’ evening gowns, with decorative matching bow accessories adorning their waists.
The bride was preceded down the isle by Flower Girls, Molly Murphy, Zoey O’Dowd and Pageboy, Dylan Fogarty.
The groom, Thomas, together with his two groomsmen, David Fogarty and Don Beattie added further to the splendour of the occasion, dressed in their black evening suits, with white shirts and matching white silk cravats.
The couple publicly declared their love for eash other in front of a large gathering of family and close friends, while music and song for the ceremony was performed by the talented musicians and vocalists Miss Maria Murray and Miss Deidre Ryan.
Following the ceremony, the new Mr and Mrs Fogarty retired to the popular Thurles wedding venue, the Anner Hotel, where guests were entertained to champagne together with other light refreshments.
Following family photographs in the grounds of Thurles Golf Club and the beautiful gardens adjoining their chosen party venue, the newly married couple joined their guests in the Anner Hotel’s Banqueting Suite where a lavish dinner was enjoyed, followed by live music and dancing very late into the evening.
A video recording of the days events were undertaken by top videographer Pat Corbett
The couple will travel on a tour of South Africa as their favoured honeymoon destination.
To Fiona and Thomas go the good wishes of their families and their many friends here in Co.Tipperary, for a happy, healthy and prosperous life together and their gratitude for a most enjoyable day.
