The wedding took place recently of Miss Sarah Gleeson, daughter of Mrs Alice and the late Mr Murt Gleeson, Gortnahoe, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, to Mr Dickie Norton, son of Mrs Mary and Mr Tommy Norton, Ballingarry, Thurles, Co.Tipperary.
The wedding ceremony took place in the quaint historic 19th century Church of The Sacred Heart, Gortnahoe, Thurles, Co.Tipperary. The ceremony was presided over by local curate Rev. Fr. Joe Walsh, ably assisted by Rev. Fr. Tom Breen P P, Ballingarry, friends of both the Gleeson and Norton families.
Escorted down the aisle by her mother Alice, the bride looked stunning in a white brushed silk bridal gown, with beaded bodice. Equally beautiful were the bridesmaids, Eithne Power, Mary Purcell and Jackie Kelly, who wore full-length burgundy, backless, tie back evening gowns.
The couple exchanged their vows in front of a large gathering of family and close friends, while music and song for the ceremony was performed by the celebrated and talented singer Michael Molumby, accompanied on piano by Mary Rose McNally, both natives of Thurles.
Following the ceremony, the new Mr and Mrs Norton retired to the popular and luxurious wedding venue The Newpark Hotel, Kilkenny, where guests were entertained to a champagne reception and other light refreshments.
Following family photographs, the newly married couple joined their guests in the banqueting suite at the Newpark for a lavish feast, which was followed by live music and dancing very late into the evening.
The couple have chosen San Francisco as their favoured honeymoon destination.
From all their family and many friends in Co.Tipperary go best wishes to them both for a happy, healthy and prosperous life together.
